A merit scholarship established in 1999 in tribute to Aditya Vikram Birla, awarded at 21 premier Indian institutions including the IITs, the IIMs, BITS Pilani, XLRI and five national law schools. It has supported 684 scholars to date. Awards are worth Rs 1.5 lakh a year for engineering, Rs 3 lakh for management and Rs 1.8 lakh for law. Only the top 20 entrance-rank students at each eligible institute are invited to apply, and nominations are routed through the Dean of the respective institute rather than submitted directly by students. Scholars also gain access to a network and to Aditya Birla Group leadership.
