Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR
India's national route to the international science olympiads, coordinated by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education at TIFR as the country's nodal centre. The programme runs a separate five-stage process in Astronomy at junior and senior level, Biology, Chemistry, Junior Science and Physics, open to pre-university students. The first stage, the Indian Olympiad Qualifier, is conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers, with the mathematics qualifier run jointly with the Mathematics Teachers Association of India; HBCSE runs stages two to five for senior Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the National Centre for Science Museums runs junior Astronomy, and IAPT runs all Junior Science stages. Selected students attend orientation and selection camps before national teams are chosen. The 2026-27 cycle is open, with exposure camps announced across subjects.
